Double Girder Gantry (Goliath Cranes)
Short Description
Double Girder Gantry Crane is usually an outdoor area double legged crane particularly used outside the factory area for lifting very heavy loads.
It is very similar to double girder semi gantry crane with an additional leg.
A double girder gantry crane has two legs and travels on the floor by means of guide rails. These guide rails require a concrete pit on which these rails are installed.
The load carrying member in gantry crane is floor.
The power supply of the crane is through the CRD which can be mounted centrally on one of the leg or at the very end of the leg.
The crane is provided with human sensors on both the legs to prevent any accidents.
These cranes are typically used in casting yards to lift lighter pre-casts, dispatch areas to load the material on the truck or trailer, infrastructure applications such as tunnel mucking, metro projects etc.
