Single Girder Gantry (Goliath Cranes)
Short Description
Single Girder Gantry Crane is usually an outdoor area double legged crane particularly used outside the factory area for lifting.
It is very similar to single girder semi gantry crane with an additional leg.
A single girder gantry crane has two legs and travels on the floor by means of guide rails. These guide rails require a concrete pit on which these rails are installed.
The load carrying member in gantry crane is floor.
The power supply of the crane is through the CRD which can be mounted centrally on one of the leg or at the very end of the leg.
The crane is provided with human sensors on both the legs to prevent any accidents.
These cranes are typically used in casting yards to lift lighter pre-casts, dispatch areas to load the material on the truck or trailer.
The crane is provided with a platform for maintenance purpose on the bridge and the access to this platform is by means of a monkey ladder.
